Peter Brook (1927-2009) lived and worked primarily in West Yorkshire and took his inspiration from the rural landscape surrounding him. His paintings show the matural beauty of the Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales as well as the agricultural and industrial character of the area. In 1960 he had his first solo exhibition at Wakefield City Art Gallery which received excellent reviews, and he was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1962.
